Specialist projects
From small ecology projects to large, we have the right specialist skills and knowledge for your needs and if we don’t, we’re happy to recommend one of our trusted contacts in our network of independent specialists.
The effects management hierarchy and design of effects management programmes lies at the heart of the RMA. Projects that have unavoidable effects on ecological values risk consent decline unless serious consideration is given to mitigating or providing redress to adverse effects.
We offer specialist input into policy development, and expert advice to Hearings, Boards of Enquiry, and Environment Court on behalf of private and public sector clients.
We can tick off all of the usual requirements for initial site assessments:
- vegetation mapping
- birds, bats, lizards
- streams, wetlands
- threatened and rare plants
- ecological significance assessments
- pre-purchase audits or assessments for OIO clients
- Master Planning or Scheme Plan inputs
- Constraints and Opportunity analyses
And provide support during the consenting process, including:
- liaison with Council specialists
- provide answers to further information requests from Council
- suggest or comment on conditions of consent
- provide support for stakeholder, iwi or submitter requests and meetings
- represent clients as experts at Hearing, BOI or Court cases
And provide post-consent services, including:
- preparation of ecological management plans, lizard salvage plans, fish relocation plans
- undertake wildlife salvage (including assistance with obtaining permits from MPI or DOC as may be needed)
- Consent compliance monitoring and reporting
- Auditing of the work of others (e.g. planting contractors)
